St Mary's Day Hospice 2018
As part of the Arts All Over the Place annual Festival of Arts and Mental Health across Birmingham, I was commissioned to work at the St Mary's Day Hospice. Initial consultation with people who use the Hospice identified themes of colour, vibrancy and movement. People felt that they came to the Hospice to "continue to enjoy life, and not to die."
We wanted to reflect this spirit in the project, so went for a large scale colourful wall hanging. Using materials not usually associated with a hospice- hub caps, hula hoops and old ripped clothes, we worked together over 4 sessions weaving pieces that were joined to make a collaborative wall piece, now hanging in the Day Hospice.
