We have seen the rise in public and confident displays of racism disguised as patriotism across the country. We have witnessed violent and aggressive demos, and counter-demos. We have faced down some really nasty people who have sought to bring their hate and intimidation to diverse and peaceful communities.

 

In mid 2026, I was commissioned by Leaf Creative Arts to work with the local community, to counter the hate and create alternative flags and banners. Bringing a message of diversity, collaboration and unity, our Stirchley banners have been carried around the communities throughout the year. 

The banners will soon embark on a tour of Birmingham libraries.
